Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus ~ 12 June 2015

A solemnity in the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church. It falls on a Friday, 19 days after Pentecost Sunday. The faithful are reminded on this solemnity of Jesus love and are encouraged to make reparation for the many sins committed against Him. Jesus, the Son of God the fruit of Blessed Virgin Mary womb whose heart the same as any human but Jesus heart is pure, full of mercy and love., He is willing become the sacrificial Lamb of God on the cross and die for our salvation because He loved us. The Sacred Heart is depicted as a flaming heart shining with divine light, pierced by the lance-wound, encircled by the crown of thorns, surmounted by a cross and bleeding.

In the Heart of the Redeemer
we adore God's love for humanity,
his will for universal salvation,
his infinite mercy,
and adoring that Heart which,
after having loved us to the end,
was pierced by a spear
and from high on the Cross
poured out blood and water,
an inexhaustible source of new life.

Grant, we pray, almighty God, that we, who glory in the Heart of your beloved Son and recall the wonders of his love for us, may be made worthy to receive an overflowing measure of grace from that fount of heavenly gifts. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

John 19:31-37
Jesus Side Is Pierced
Since it was the day of Preparation, in order to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the sabbath (for that sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who had been crucified with him; but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. He who saw it has borne witnesshis testimony is true, and he knows that he tells the truththat you also may believe. For these things took place that the scripture might be fulfilled, Not a bone of him shall be broken. And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they have pierced.
